2010 has been a busy year for the industry and for us here at the OCCB. The transition to OASIS-C and the introduction of a new COS-C exam have consumed most of our energy. Still, it was an active time behind the scenes for OCCB.
Since it’s inception in 2004, OCCB has remained relatively unchanged. The message, the look, and the service have been consistent – but the same. During that time the COS-C has evolved from an abstract idea to a designation now pinned to all corners of Home Health; Nurses, Therapists, Administrators, Agency Owners, OASIS Educators, even CMS staff wear the distinction of COS-C. To many, COS-C equals competency.
Yet we routinely encounter individuals uncertain about we do. Who is the OCCB? What is the COS-C Exam? Why does it matter? How do I become a COS-C? These lingering questions present a barrier to those interested in evaluating the OASIS data collection knowledge of themselves or their staff.
